Why is there a rivalry between michael jackson and elvis?
its like since jacksons death it has started up.its strange because mj never went into as many genres as elvis and so the only genre they share is pop.there is no contest in any way really..elvis has sold more 1 2 billion elvis has nearly 8 times as many gold albums 92 elvis has 5 times as many platinum albums 55 elvis has twice as many multi platinum albums 23 elvis has three times as many number 1s 21 elvis is the only peson in all 4 music hallsof fame,jackson is only in one.elvis voice was far stronger,powerful and more emotive than jacksons voice with a voice that spanned 2 and a half octaves varying from baritone,through bass,to tenor.elvis had a much bigger impact and influence on music and culture influencing such artists as the beatles , the rolling stones , bruce springsteen , michael jackson , bob dylan and countless others.all this despite elvis' career being barely half the length of jacksons elvis 23 years and jackson 45 years anyway , michael jackson was a huge elvis fan and would not as full of himself as he was have dared compare himself to the king.i don't see how people can get it in they're minds that michael jackson is even in elvis' league.when jackson has half the amount of accomplishments that elvis has,or even rivals him a little in the categories above,they can start to be compared.i know some jackson fans are gonna write some facts some of which will be untrue about awards and such , but until he can rival elvis' music,musicall accomplishments,or success , I will simply never be able to place him in the kings league.please leave your thoughts if you agree or disagree.well grapevine fires, i have never posted THIS question before.i have posted similar ones ,but only because im interested how people think michael jackson is the king of pop,when elvis and the beatles both sang pop,and both outsold jackson.michael jackson is only in one MUSIC hall of fame.there are 4,and like i said , elvis is in all of 'em.elvis has over 30 guinness world recordsthe second most visited house in america after the whitehouse the most successful artist in music history.one of , if not the greatest singer of all time.553 recorded songs not including live recordings .michael jackson was not adventurous enough to sing a different set of songs at every show.no he spent years making one album and years touring with that material.elvis was in 29 films , and was a good actor,in classics like king creole and viva las vegas.jackson was in one film.although elizabeth taylor called jackson the king of pop first,he insisted upon the usage of the monacre from that poinpoint on,whereas elvis never once accepted the title of king,even in aloha from hawaii he wouldn't wear the crown.jackson is not in the kings league,as far as talent,impact,success or importance.michael jackson WAS a fan of elvis,he even bought a house across the road from elvis'.elvis was far more than a singer,he never one had more than a million dollars in his bank account,from helping charities or just buying things for his friends or random people.elvis once bought eleven cars for his friends at one time.he bough a lady a car who was standing at a bus stop a car because it was cold out.elvis came out in 1954.the same time as little richard and chuck berry,so he was a major part of the creation and the main reason for the popularization of rock n' roll.he was also better than little richard and chuck berry because he was a better singer,and could sing anything.elvis created genres within genres of rock 'n' roll were berry and little richard could only sing their particular styles.berry's was a very country sounding guitar heavy rock n roll,and little richard's was a frantic exiting rock 'n rool.elvis sang these styles and much more,and many other genresChuck Berry " Blacks didn't have the air waves Elvis had. It took alot of years for Elvis to reach the Billion records sold, and only 2 years and a half for Michael to reach the Billion records sold. He was a joke the last ten years he was alive so why is he being idolized like he was some kind of God? He was mentally ill and a drug addict. Not exactly a role model. I wish all these shows would quit with the special tributes to him.
